Lixus of the Shell
Similar to the scholars in the orders of Aten, Flavian, and Magosi, disciples of Lixus are naturally curious individuals with a passion for uncovering secrets and opening doors of knowledge. Scholars of these orders often lose themselves in the search to gain access to the best kept secrets of the world they live in. While the discovery of knowledge is the primary goal for all of these organizations, there is always a specialty. Ateni scholars are intimately familiar with the delicate politics of the Efeet and the Djinn, while Traedornian scholars are well versed in the theories about Tartarus and the relationships between demons and devils. Scholars of Lixus are experts in the mundanely strange. Herbal remedies like snorting ashes from a bonfire to cure colds, or the fact that Trioti fortune tellers always use one less card in their tarot decks than other diviners are the textbook facts that Lixus yearns to hear from his followers. The disciples, scholars, followers(the name changes often) of Lixus have no strict organization or hierarchy to them, it’s essentially a circle of acquaintances who share interesting tidbits of information they find on their travels taken to a dizzying extreme. The only requirements for being in the order, is to worship the great Lixus and bring him offerings in the form of interesting facts. While more often than not he has heard the offered fact, he still judges it fairly and offers an equally interesting fact as a reward.
By all technical definitions Lixus is a god but most(including many of his followers) don’t consider him so. For a being of such immense power, Lixus is remarkably inactive. His high priest, Kriggly Slugspeaker, renowned goblin scholar, claims that Lixus hasn’t left his study in hundreds of years. Lixus can’t afford to stay awake for more than three or four hours a day, he has tried in the past but it always ends with him getting sand in his eyes as they droop down to floor level and Kriggly recieving several screams of infuriated gibberish telepathically. During the large portion of the day that Lixus is sleeping, the followers will assemble in his living room and share any interesting information that they’ve gathered in their recent travels. Followers of Lixus travel often and rarely will you see the same cast of characters on any given day(besides Kriggly). There are certainly perks to being within the order, free access to Lixus’s rather impressive library(not so impressive that it draws attention but any passerby would recognize it as an eclectic collection of tomes), free room and board for as long as the visitor wishes(most can’t stand staying for more than a couple of days), and the ability to ask Lixus at least one question per day.
