Lithnagantas, Druids, and the Savage Lands

The Savage Lands have remained one of the few regions that have been able to resist the iron grip of civilization and retain its lush natural qualities. As far as the histories go no researcher has ever been able to trace the its origin or the origin of nature in general. The Primordial Plane had no such features, a grey wasteland of various hills and ravines but no verdant greens and no instinctual beasts. The origin of all of these things lies with the bizarre twin brother of the multiverse’s creator, Iocles. When Io gave herself to construct her son there was an unforeseen side effect of such a cosmically influential event. Lithnagantas serves as the savage, untamed mirror of the civilized, dignified Iocles. Unlike the Fiends and Ur Iocles did not immediately remove his bizarre bestial brother from the Primordial plane. He watched as jungles, forests, and beasts appeared in the presence of the hydra. The primordials who took a liking to Lithnagantas would become the fae and would eventually start to clash with Iocles’s vision of the universe and he severed their plane from the Primordial realm creating the Faewild and the Shadowfell.

Fast forward to the material plane eons later and Iocles grows extremely frustrated as Lithnagantas keeps spitting out corrupt versions of his creations; Beastmen, Drakes, and turning Iocles’s mortal children away from the ways of civilization and toward a communal living with nature(the first druids). The tension erupted in the greatest clash of powers in the history of the material plane, the plane was nearly destroyed and several tears in the fabric of its existence have formed after this clash that created another hole for the beings beyond the multiverse to seep in. The two deities realized that they were evenly matched despite differing styles of magic. Lithnagantas and Iocles managed to agree to disagree about their vision of the plane and allow the mortals to decide without the influence of gods provided that nature is allowed one final sanctuary from the mortals. This sanctuary is where Lithnagantas currently rests, awaiting the next time that his sanctuary is desecrated.

All beastmen(except ratfolk) can be traced back to the Savage Lands even if their cultures have decided to move toward the civilized side such as the Loxodon. All of the races(besides the serpentfolk) in the Savage Lands worship him in some capacity, but as the memory of his awakening to save their home fades, worship of him fades too. Lithnagantas for the most part allows the Savage Lands to develop without his guiding hand, as he had done on the Primordial plane, only awakening once to fell the colossi of the forgotten pyramids.
