Angels, Ur and the New Gods

Good and the New Gods can be traced back to the primordials of the outer reaches who refused to fall to the temptations and corruption of the Demons, Devils, and Daemons. Despite all of the death and destruction around them they maintained that they would not commit the sins that created these monsters. As the years stretched on though, many begun to lose their spark and fall to melancholy, but there were still those who held out hope for a better world. Eventually their hopes were answered. An unnamed primordial claimed to have seen a statue that called itself Ur in his dreams. The statue offered protection and a means to fight back against evil on only one condition, faith. It is uncertain whether this was the delusion of a desperate man or whether Ur came from outside the Primordial Plane to combat the voices that had caused the first sin. Nontheless faith continued to spread among the stragglers and eventually they participated in the March to Heaven, a treacherous journey across the outer reaches to find the physical location of Ur. The journey was perrilous and many Primordials died or lost their way to sin, but those who made it discovered Ur was waiting for them and turned them into the first angels and archons. The first forces of good to combat the evil of Tartarus.

As the eons have passed many other New Gods have taken residence in Heaven and the service of these early archons and angels has moved to the more promising gods with greater ambitions, but there are still those who remember the old ways and still pray under the guiding hand of Ur. After the Sundering of Heaven and Tartarus from each other, the urgency lessened and the Primordials begun to argue among themselves about the teachings of the silent Ur splitting off into several different forgotten gods leaving Ur abandoned at the center of Heaven. As the Primordials ascended to angels and archons the gods needed more worshippers and turned to the material plane(much to Iocles’s dismay) introducing the concept of Good to mortals. This didn’t have the effect they anticipated and the mortals often created their own gods leaving the Primordials to be forgotten to history.

Angels, Archons, and other good outsiders are agents of the New Gods and thus take their power and form based on the belief of the god they serve’s followers. For example the people of Sera believe that their god employs choirs, and legions of angels that will come down from Heaven to assist the saints in whatever work of Sera they please.

Ur god of protection and good, favored weapon unarmed: Protection, Good, Liberation, Community, and Earth.
